The Coca-Cola advert has been spotted, and that can only mean one thing – holidays are coming.

The advert made it's come back this year, first being shown during the ad break of X Factor.

The festive favourite heralds the start of the Christmas period across the world and has been synonymous with the holidays for almost 80 years.

Coca-Cola have this year launched a new advertising campaign, with the iconic trucks touring the country for six weeks, giving people the opportunity to see the festive trucks in person.

Zoe Howorth, Coca Cola's market activation director said:"The iconic Christmas Coca Cola Trucks from ‘Holidays Are Coming’ advertising campaign, are loved by millions of people across the world, and for many their appearance signals the start of the holiday season.

We’re really excited to be building festive anticipation in cities across the country, propelling the nation into celebratory action and spreading some holiday spirit along the way.”

Coca-Cola, which will be one of the major sponsors for the London 2012 Olympics, have had a stronger influence over the festive period than may first be assumed. It is believed that the traditional image of Santa Claus was originally a jolly man in a green suit, but some believe that the Coca-Cola brand changed the image of Father Christmas to tie in with its iconic red dynamic ribbon.
James Ramsey, a marketing executive, said: "It's obvious that Coca-Cola are putting major investment into their advertising campaign this year. There was some speculation that they might scale down their ads due to the economic climate but it seems they have done the opposite".
