Stan the man raises over £30,000 for charity

Stan Truelove's display at his house on South Street, Canterbury

A Canterbury man has raised almost £30,000 for charity by decorating his (and his neighbouring house) with over 50,000 twinkling Christmas lights.

Stan Truelove, of South Street, has been fundraising for the Kent-based Pilgrims Hospice charity for the past five years.

In previous years he has also supported the Kent Air Ambulance charity, a charity which became very close to his heart after his wife passed away.
This year Stan has taken his light display to the roads with a mobile sleigh which will be in the Canterbury area spreading Christmas cheer until the New Year.
So far this year, Stan has managed to raise over £3,500, from his light display, which has all been donated to the Pilgrims Hospice.
Stan said: “What we have raised this year is amazing! I’ve planned to go much bigger for next Christmas and I have already started buying new lights and displays."
